eCrater Stores

Where Smart People Shop!

We all shop at the second hand stores, garage sales, etc. Everyone has a story , something funny, someone unforgettable, a shopping tip or two, or the one that got away. For instance, last summer we planned the perfect getaway for our anniversary: a Blues festival in the evening and citywide garage sales all day. Talk about a little slice of heaven!

I look forward to reading about everyone else's adventures, at least til garage sale season!

The best sale I ever came across was at a store which a lady opened up close to our home.

She had only been open for 4 months when she realized that her overhead was way more than expected.

She ended up having a closing sale in which "everything you could fit into a 33 gallon garbage was only $1.00!

Whew! I ended up leaving with 9 garbage bags full of clothing, shoes, glassware, a manny (the one in my photos), accessories, sterling jewelry and a gorgeous wood table all for less than $10.00.

Boy, do I miss that store. I guess it was a once in a lifetime event.

We also had a local thrift store that was moving to a new location so the last couple/three days in their old building they had a $5 bag sale. They sold clothing, toys (things like that), collectibles & antiques. It was so much fun! It was also a large garbage bag. You could fill it with anything that would possibly fit. lol I made a lot fit! Then on their larger items like furniture they were making great deals on & accepting offers. I got 3 bags & had my hubby stop by there after he got off work & pick up another 2 bags full. LOL He's a good man! ; )

Wow, after reading everything here, I feel darn shameful!! I don't shop. Really, I don't. I haven't been to a garage sale in years, or any other sale for that matter! My husband is the shopoholic, he shops at thrift stores probably 4 - 5 days a week. And every single time he comes home with some 'treasure'. Our condo got so full of stuff, I didn't know what to do, I could not 're-donate' it fast enough, then finally I figured it out. Re-sell it. So that's what brought me to ecrater. He really does come home with nice things, and now that I figured it out, I could kick myself for some of the things I 're-donated'. But I'm quite inspired now reading all these posts that I even checked out some estate sales in my area. My problem is that I'm not a good negotiator, but my husband is, hmmmm, now there's an idea.... ;)
