eCrater Stores

Where Smart People Shop!

Many of the buttons I sell could be considered collectible. Of course, as a new collector/seller of sewing buttons, I'm learning that what is collectible is determined by the buyer/collector.

I'm wondering if others are selling collectible/vintage sewing items and if so, how you deal with not having a vintage sewing sub category under collectibles in the global categories to properly list your items.

Hi, I sell vintage sewing patterns among my many pattern listings. It is frustrating to me not to have a global vintage category for them. Do you suppose we could petition eCrater to add one?

I just asked about it in a community forum and got shot down pretty hard. Another seller also indicated she had tried to no avail. I don't know if we would have success or not. I'm so new here. But I certainly would be willing to assist, join, support anything sellers might try to get the categories added.

I have several vintage patterns and some vintage/antique fabric and hadn't considered putting them under collectible. They've always gone under Crafts. Anyone else handle it this way?

I use the term Vintage to define the fact that the item is older. I use Antique when it is 100 years.

I prefer to list buttons in a category under Sewing Notions as was begun here.

But here is the thing about categories: I have to know where my audience is looking. IF I have a good guess or stats on that one then I word a category in eCrater to further hook the audience through the global search engine.

In my opinion (IMO) all the work is in the description of the item using keywords to not only sell the product but to become indexed through the global search engines.

I know who I want to reach and then I try to find the best approach to becoming visible to that audience.

Sales will be nice but I need a fan base first and I have to attract them.
